Jahson’s Song

Oh Jahson, you are the chosen one

Chosen from the sea of souls

So let your truth be told

And Jah daughter

You are the chosen flower

Picked from the fertile fields

So let your wisdom be revealed

For lucky you are, to have made it this far

So let your feet hit the floor and don’t waste no more

Unfurl your wings and let your innocence soar

‘Cause the things that you do are a reflection of you

And the words that you say serve to pave your way

‘Cause this life that we live was never ours to give

So remember the gift you were given this day

I am asking you for this time

Open up your ears oh mankind

Jah has given me this wisdom

Be thankful whatever may come

Whether your seas are calm or rough

Stay the course be humble and tough

Happiness will be your reward

If you do right and work hard

CHORUS: ‘Cause Jah give life and Jah Jah take life away

So give thanks to be alive on this day

Oh Jah give life and Jah Jah take life away

So give thanks to be alive on this most holy day

Truth is the only thing you need

And don’t let no one push you around

Follow your own heart and truly

You’ll find your feet on solid ground

‘Cause if you stand in quicksand you’ll be sinking down

Down underground

So make sure your foundation is sound

Love yourself and you will see

How beautiful this life can be

‘Cause some of them are born with a silver spoon, some never have no food at all Some a dem are born with black skin, white skin, some born short and some born

tall

Some a dem a fret so, fret so ‘bout things that are out of their control Some a dem are born with crippled bodies, some grow to have crippled souls But he, who is crippled in the heart

Shall be crippled in his mind and living on borrowed time, oh what a crime  And she, who never lives to know love

Will never know nothing at all

Too busy with their push and shove to hear I call

Hey mystery babylon, can’t you hear I call?

Oh sun comes up and sun goes down

Life goes on with you or without

You were given the same chance

As everyone to experience

This life and Love and hardships and all

The sweet embrace and the sting of a fall

Where you start has been chosen, true

But where you end up is up to you

CHORUS

Oh what a blessing Jah

Oh what a joy it is to be alive

I gotta give thanks yeah

For the gift of this beautiful day

For this life, for this Love, to laugh, to feel pain, to feel joy, to have hope, to feel  sadness yeah

On this glorious day

In this moment now

To be here now Jah

Thank you, thank you Jah

And now, I see with focused eyes

And I see the bluer skies

Begin to materialize

I’m alive

And looking backwards

There’s so many years that we wasted

There’s no way that we can replace them oh no

But looking forward

I can see a brighter tomorrow

We’re conquering the source of our sorrows

Weakness, hatred, fear and insecurity

Indoctrinated by the entertainment industry

Educated, we are, in their false history

This is not our destiny, no

We were born kings and queens of humanity

Unadorned by fashion, wealth or vanity

I was born to expose this hypocrisy

Won’t you come along with me?

Why do so many believe they’re broken?

Their eyes are blind to see their holy blessing

Can’t you see you are born true perfection?

A unique and beautiful creation

Who Jah blesses no man can curse

Curses only come from within

Take a look around, realize

Jah has only given blessings

You Oughta Know Better

What you got to prove?

That you’re bigger, tougher, hard headed and rougher

You know you’re bound to lose

‘Cause there’s always someone bigger, who’s thicker, or quicker So open up your fists

Take a deep breath and quell your anger

You’ll probably live longer

Loosen up your wrists

And shake out all of your frustration with a positive vibration ‘Cause for all you know your worst enemy could be your best friend If only you could mend

All of the bridges you burned by letting anger control your emotions  So listen up my friend

‘Cause all we are is Love

When you get down to the root, clear away all the pollution  So when push comes to shove

You got to be the bigger man and have the strength to stay your hand

And you oughta know better

Than to waste your time quarreling with one another

You, you know you oughta know better

Walking around looking for someone to crack

With the “what the fuck you lookin’ at?” and “how you gonna act?” now my  braddah

You know your mama taught you better

You must think you’re so cool

You think a gun gives you power

And that you’ll never cower

When them they come for you

And the fast bullets are flying

You think you’ll pull your iron

Does it make you feel safe?

To have the weapon of a murderer

Tucked beneath your comforter

I’d like to have more faith

But your paranoia’s dangerous

Your mental state is reckless

And every time that you fly off the deep end

You go and lose your shit

How will you control yourself when you got access to a lethal weapon? Right at your fingertips

And you oughta know better

Than to throw your life away gangbanging on your brother’s You, you know you oughta know better

Walking around with a pistol in your waste

Every time you get belligerent, you’re shooting up the place, you bad  motherfucker

You’re just a bully and a coward

We only got this one chance and then the moment has passed It’s written in the stars

So if you leave a scar

You got to learn your lesson, that this life is a blessing So if you think you’re cursed

You got it in reverse

And take a good look at yourself

Are you everything you want, everything you can be? Drop the gun, put down the knife

Pick up the pieces of your life

Arm yourself with peace and patience

‘Cause all this violence

Is just a way they can control ya

And get their shackles on ya

You show your ignorance

When you lose control of yourself and take it out on someone else

And you oughta know better

Nobody deserves to die by the knife or the gun

This life is a gift we’re given so live a peaceful one

Every new day is a new way to go discover the truth, the choice is up to you

Just As You Are

Inevitably life changes and time and again we wake up not knowing where we are And throughout all of these changes, it’s how we adapt that makes up and defines  who we are

And if you choose the long road, make sure you have a stronghold built up within  your heart

‘Cause they will try to use you, control you and abuse you before you get too far So never mind the scars

And steer clear of the stereotypes, ‘cause it is very unlikely that lightning will strike  twice

But if you keep a watch on the signs and crack open your third eye, you’re sure to  reach the higher heights

And take a little time to open up your eyes and stand on your two feet ‘Cause uniquely you were born and into this world you were thrown, an individual,  you were meant to be

So be yourself

Don’t bother copping someone else’s vibe

You know you couldn’t even if you tried

And you got something better deep inside

So why would you try to hide

Oh be yourself

Follow your heart and set your spirit free

Unleash all of your creativity

And whatever it is you choose to be

It’ll be alright with me

‘Cause I don’t wanna change ya

Make you into something that you’re not or rearrange ya

I don’t wanna get into your thoughts, just wanna tell ya

Whether you never do nothing or if you bloom into a bright, shining star I will always Love you, just as you are

It’s only a matter of time before you find that there is something inside that’s  trying to wake up and burst out of your seams

And it might a take a day, a month, a year, before you hear your inner voice and  make the choice to follow your dreams

I know it seems impossible

But, in fact, it’s probable that this path was laid out for you to walk I know it’s cheaper to talk

But you’re worth more than that

So let your actions speak volumes and they will call you prophet, poet, you know it  so well

Oh just be yourself

Follow the words that are written in your heart

Don’t let this petty world pick you apart

‘Cause they could never take away your art

So don’t you never give up no

‘Cause they will try to change you

Make you into something that [you’re] not and rearrange you

They will try to get into your thoughts, but let me tell you

Whether you never do nothing or if you bloom into a bright, shining star I will always Love you, never talk down to you, never put myself above you All I have, I’ll give you

And if l don’t live to see you graduate, go on a date or come home late after you  crashed my car

I will always Love you, just as you are

When everyone is asleep, tucked in their sheets and dreaming

I lie awake and contemplate this life I’m leaving

Weaving the threads of my heart to yours

I have adored every smile, every frown, every fix, every breakdown Down by the water I will wash my soul clean

And rid myself of all the bad things I’ve seen

The time is right, I think I might finally break free

And when I break through

I will wait for you

I will always Love you, just as you are

I will wait for you

I will wait for you, where the river meets the sea, I will wait for you And I will wait for you, where the darkness has no reach

I will wait for you

Teachers Pt. 1

Where’s all the leaders?

Come out of hiding

Where’s all the teachers?

We need you now

To all the healers

This is a calling

Fire

They don’t want to see us running free in open fields or thinking for ourselves They want to fill the gardens with their concrete and their steel and keep us in our  cells

But it’s the fire that’s burning in my soul

Babylon doesn’t have enough water to control

‘Cause if you feel it, then you know it to be true

And the false and the wicked could never put their hands on you

CHORUS: Oh babylon would never hold I

Because they know not what I’m about

And I man I would never give up

‘Cause they can bat the fire down, but they’ll never put their embers out

You talk and talk of freedom and you talk and talk of war, like it’s something up for  sale

But where is all this freedom that you’re talking so much for?

Your truth is turning pale

‘Cause in the darkness, I see you oh so clear

And your eyes are afraid and your black heart is full of fear

‘Cause we are rising, and you know your time has come

Now there’s naw left for you to do but turn on your heels and run

CHORUS:

Now you’re talkin’, talkin’, talkin’ but you can’t seem to find the words No, no you can’t

Because your money and your power is smoking and your choking as it burns ‘Cause it’s the fire that’s burning in I n I heart

That they could never have the power to control or to tear apart ‘Cause inna Mount Zion, Jah nurtures every living thing

And He protects I man and gives I man a reason to sing

Jah Jah sit upon the highest throne upon Mount Zion

So follow the path of the righteous, it’ll lead you to the Mighty Lion There’s so much toil and confusion down there inna babylon

There’s so many paths to be chosen

I n I see only one

I man see one

To never give up

I man I would never give up

Not even here down in babylon

I would never give up

Rastaman would never give up

The Worst Parts Of You

The first few years were no piece of cake

But I always knew that we would make it here

We shared some laughs, we shed some tears

We did the the work to make it work, just to be clear

I showed you things I never wanted anyone to see

Enlightened you to the darker side of me

You helped me peel away the layers and start again, you’re my best friend You showed me more than you could ever know and I Love you so

CHORUS: ‘Cause I Love the worst parts of you

The dirt, the damage too

The worst parts of you are beautiful to me

And I just wanted to express my gratitude

Especially for Loving the worst parts of me too

What is this feeling called Love?

Why does it go hand in hand with pain?

How do I know you’re the one?

And what is this feeling I can’t explain?

But I feel it

Can you feel it too?

And as we grew, we became one

Then we had to go and find ourselves again

All I ever wanted was the truth

All I ever gave you was the truth

I never thought that I could say such hurtful things

I never let that darkness spread its wings

Thought you would leave, but as the seasons came and passed This Love lasted

Through thick and thin

Through the rainy nights and through the crazy fights

CHORUS

And from the moment that we met

I had this feeling I could let you in

Reveal all my sins and my shortcomings

And now that I made you my wife, you fill my life with pleasure and pain Sunshine and rain

Oh it’s the same, we remain together

Nothing can tear this Love asunder

CHORUS

The worst parts of me

The light you’ve given me

You set my spirit free and I just wanted to thank you

You put your trust in me and I feel so blessed to see

That you Love me enough to show me the worst parts of you too

Promise my heart to you

From this moment until the end of time

I’ll be unconditionally your Lover, your best friend

Your perfect reflection

If you will marry me I will make you happy

Music Is The Cure

Have you felt an aching pain?

A slight pressure in your brain

You feel like you’re going insane and you can’t maintain

Your emotions are overflowing

Leave your troubles behind

And let your worries unwind

Forget about the date and time and relax your mind

It’s gonna be fine, everything passes

Life is too short to waste a moment, just live

And enjoy every breath that you’ve been given

‘Cause negativity only attracts the negative

And this life was meant to live

So be positive

‘Cause this could be the last time that I see your face and feel your warm embrace So this moment would be a crying shame to waste

CHORUS: So if you’re sick, I’ll give you some medicine

Lay your burdens down, open up your heart and let it in

You’re searching for answers, well I’ll give you a prescription

Music is the cure and the doctor is in

Beating deep inside is a rhythm that keeps you alive

The melodies of how to survive are all inscribed on your heart and your soul and  your spirit

So dance to the beat of your heart

And sing like a bird in a tree

‘Cause we’ll forever be free on this melody

Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet

Yeah can’t you hear it?

Take a deep breath, close your eyes and know

Take in the vibes and let the circle flow

‘Cause we need each other to make this music

And we need music like the flowers need the sun to grow

So if this is the last time that I see your face

I want to see you shining so bright

And if this is the last time that we embrace

Jah knows I’m gonna hold you tight

CHORUS:

A little bit of drum and bass can go a long way

A piece of lyrical advice can change your whole day

So lay your burdens on the floor, dance ‘til you can’t dance no more Unlock your heart, open the door, let music chase them dark clouds away

Jazz, blues, hip-hop, fusion, funk and soul

Classical, flamenco, country, rock n roll

It don’t matter whatever sound that you dig on

As long as you feel it, with a passion, deep within your soul

But for me, there’s one sound that I will always Love, that takes all my pain away One sweet sound that lifts me so high above

Sweet reggae music, Jah roots reggae music

CHORUS:

So if you’re stressed out

You feel depressed

Feel like you’re all alone

Feel your heart has turned to stone

Music is the cure

Teachers Pt. 2

CHORUS: Where’s all the leaders?

Come out of hiding

Where’s all the teachers?

We need you now

To all the healers

This is a calling

This world is slipping into darkness

Where’s all the lovers?

Come out and dance now

Too many haters running amok

There’s children starving

People are thirsty

The politicians just don’t give a fuck

Where’s all the forests?

They’re disappearing

They’re making way for factory farms

And this wrong direction

So crystal clear but

They just refuse to heed the alarms

But Mama’s angry

Don’t mess with Mama

There’s only so much that she can take But like a spoiled child

We keep on pushing

Pushing but how long before she breaks?

And all these fast cars, smart phones and fast food Are pushing us faster, until the end

And would we trade them

Just for a moment

A brighter future for our children

Mother Nature’s Tears

When will we wake up?

Will we wait ‘til it’s too late?

And we’ve run out of luck

Will this be our fate?

To destroy our world

And everything that we hold dear

Are we bound to drown in Mother Nature’s tears?

When will we wake up?

Will we wait til the stars have all fallen from the heavens?

‘Til we’ve all filed for chapter 11

Spirits bankrupt of spirituality

Artificially intelligent, living in a virtual reality

While the world that sustains us becomes bankrupt of resource

Stripped of beauty, stripped of wealth, stripped of dignity and discourse

And is there any remorse?

For trading our children’s future for shortsighted selfishness

Comfortably rotting away, ignorant in our own bliss

Comfort at a cost

Comfort at a cost

Comfort at a cost

And look at what we’ve lost

And look at what we still have to lose

And which path will we choose?

Are we bound to drown?

Hope

Vs 1: There is a message for you

It’s written deep within your bones

And when you find it there, you

You will lose all sense of control

But when you make it through, you

You will have all you need to know

CHORUS: Don’t give up hope

This world isn’t over

There’s time to start over

Don’t give up hope

It’s time to remember

Return to the center

I let the tears fall down from my face

I refuse to wipe them away

I let them fall to the earth, forming patterns in the dirt, hieroglyphics of a world  gone haywire

I watch the blood pour out of your wounds

The doctors said that there was nothing they could do

Another brother’s life lost too soon, another victim of a system of deception and  illusion

All their words coming undone

I let the waves come and wash over me

First the confusion, then the anger, then the grief

I watch the people pass by with eyes glazed over

Another story to be buried in the newspaper

I watch the flames rise up to the sky

I hold my breath, wait for the phoenix to rise

I watch the embers in a trance, forming patterns as they dance, constellations of a  stationary society

But now we’re breaking free

CHORUS

Another day, another dollar, so the saying goes

Inevitably, we fall in the trap, filling these same roles

Consuming this, producing that, like cogs in a machine

Too blind to see this fantasy, American dream

Another day, another prayer flows from my mouth

Quiet my ego, give me strength to overcome doubt

Strength to be an example for my bros and my sissies

Strength to be the leader and teacher I was born to be

Strength to my brothers fighting the power on the front line

Strength to the mothers and the daughters working overtime

Strength to the teachers, speaking truth in a world of lies

Strength to the children, may they grow to teach I n I

Strength to the farmers growing food without pesticides

Strength to the vegans who see the value in every life

Strength to the few policeman who refuse to take a bribe

Strength to the politicians, still fighting for the little guy

Strength to the bruised, abused mamas who take the kids and run

Strength to the soldier, heeds his conscience, and lays down his [gun]

Strength to the ones who shun religion for the spiritual

Strength to the ones who’re still believing and achieving miracles

This is the beginning of days that we are living in

Let’s end the wars, open the doors, bring the ‘ohana in

Erase the lines on the map and forget the history

This is not our destiny

It’s time to reveal her story

Oh Mama, I hear you, I feel you

Repeat Vs 1

This tear has planted a seed inside of me

I refuse to be a repeat of history

Her song won’t be forgotten

CHORUS

I watch the tears fall down from your faces

Every religion, ages, sexes and races

They come together in a river flowing to the sea

One heart, one soul, one family

I wear my heart, here, out on my sleeve

I want the whole of the world to see

That we are all the same color on the inside

And we are all in it together on this wild ride

There’s a place where peace exists

Beyond the shadows, beyond the abyss

We will all meet there someday

But everyone must find their own way

You will fail, you’ll know success

You must know sorrow, to know you’re blessed

We all have this price to pay

But everyone must find their own way

This life that we’re given is a journey

Painful, joyful, comical, enlightening

Exciting, unpredictable and frightening

We sing from the mountain tops, we swear at the traffic stops  We shelter in the embrace of family

And see our true reflection in our enemies eyes

We laugh, we cry, we learn, we forget

We work, we play, we yearn, we regret

Most of the time we’re just pushing that great big boulder up the hill, only for it to  roll back down again at the end of the day

But what most of us don’t realize is that pushing the boulder is changing us,  fundamentally

But it’s up to us to interpret how

The perceptions we choose shape the projections we produce to manifest the  world we create

The greatest gift we’ve been given in this life is the ability to choose  No matter what the situation, we always have a choice we can make  So this is my hope

For all of us to make this world a little bit better, one small choice at a time

It’s time to wake up

It’s time to remember

Wipe away the makeup and return to the center So don’t give up hope, family

Don’t give up hope, no

This world isn’t over

There’s time to start over
